I recently picked up a copy of the "Artefacts" compilation on ArT-TeK Records (a Moscow label for those who don't know). This is excellent stuff - sort of advanced Artificial Intelligence-ish music to my ears, featuring artists like Fizzarum (can't wait to get their recent album), Novel 23 and Solar X. I recommend it if you can find it, and that shouldn't be too difficult since I saw a copy of it at each record store I went to last Monday, and I went to three. (BTW, for those of you in NYC, I'm new here and so far I've visited Other Music, Etherea, Mondo Kim's, and Throb - Personally, I think Other Music perhaps has the best selection, but Etherea let me listen to a bunch of stuff before I bought it, so my vote goes to Etherea. Regardless, I still prefer to buy online...) Anyway, as I was saying, "Artefacts" is very recommended. Which brings me to a question - the first two tracks on there caught my ears, and I'm wondering if it's worth looking for more from those two artists ("Lazyfish" and "Eu"). I've seen those names somewhere before - any opinions? I also picked up a copy of the new "Aurora" compilation on Merck, and everything positive that's been sad about it is true - go get it! Excellent ambient melodies, a pleasant change from all the "click and cut" styled music and all the "artificial intelligence" styled music. Not that I have anything against all that, it's just starting to wear thin on my ears, is all. While I'm talking about comps, there's a few recent comps that I'm hesitant to buy, but I'm really curious - I haven't been paying much attention to these labels, so I'd like them as samplers. I'd still like to have some idea of what I'm getting into before I buy, so I'm wondering if there's someplace I could hear them online? Otherwise, what do you guys all think of the following: Putting The Morr Back In Morrissey morr music Cottage Industries neo ouija Cashier Escape Route; Modern Supermarket Music c.c.o. [isophlux comp] isophlux V/A Constant Friction: Collaborations 2 Oooh, one more thing - has anyone here heard of this, and if so, what's it like?
